ASUS N82JQ-X1 14-Inch Laptop (Dark Brown) Review
I had this laptop for about a week now and am very happy with my purchase.
As Pros I would have to list:
-FAST!
-Size, Form Factor, Light
-Video Card
-Processor
-Keyboard
-Quality of built
Cons:
-Screen (not bad, but expected better)
-Short Battery life (but to be expected with laptop processor/video card....) - i knew what i was getting into, around 2 Hours of battery life is to be expected on light computing.
-No Restore Discs included, just driver CD for windows 7, XP.
-Lots of bloatware
Other Thoughts:
-Restore disk creation software was very "picky" when it came to media being used, did not work with Memorex DVD-R or Philips DVD-R, but quick search on ASUS support forum revealed that many users had success with TDK DVD+R.
-Laptops tends to get hot (left side of the unit by the heat sink vents) under heavy load and it is not lap friendly. I purchased with my laptop a cooling pad - Cooler Master Notepal U2 Notebook Cooler. This cooling pad is perfect fit for Asus N82JQ and really helps with heat dissipation while being very quite at the same time.
-Atheros wireless card, adequate for web browsing, on a slow side when it comes to data transfer on your internal network.
After creating the system restore disks i reformatted my hard drive and got rid off the separate partitions put in place by the manufacture (Restore partition, OS partition, Data partition) and installed fresh copy of Windows 7.
I would highly recommend it to anyone that wants performance in compact 14" size.
